Job Posting: VJAS Associate Director of the Virginia Academy of Science (Salary Range: $15,000 - 25,000/year, contingent on skills and experience)

The Virginia Academy of Science (VAS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is seeking a dedicated and organized VJAS Associate Director to support its mission of promoting science and science education across Virginia. This is a contractual position, requiring approximately 29 hours per week (1,450 hours annually) with an initial six-month probationary period followed by a one-year appointment.

Key Responsibilities

● Manage VJAS finances, including income, disbursements, and budget preparation.

● Pursue external funding to support Virginia Academy of Science and Virginia Junior Academy of Science (VJAS) activities.

● Provide administrative support to the VJAS Director and the VJAS committee.

● Coordinate annual academic symposia.

● Foster relationships with organizations and institutions in Virginia to promote science and science education.

Qualifications:

Strong administrative and organizational skills.

● Familiarity with the financial management of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

● Proficiency in MS Office, QuickBooks, Google Suite, WordPress, and Reviewr

● Excellent communication and event management skills.

● Knowledge of the VA Junior Academy of Science
